Mt Washington Valley Trails & Mt Washington – NH
The highest mountain in the northeastern state of New Hampshire, 6288 feet, MT. Washington (or Agiocochook as it was then) was first climbed in 1642 by mobile Darby and two native guides, but this is in 1853, built the house of the first summit. A year later, Tip Top House was built, which survives to this day. For the less adventurous, the Wagon road and a cog railway was built 3 miles, engineering is considered difficult, even in these modern times! The cogwheel railway leads to the summit from the west and the road route from the east.
South Point is the AMC Lakes of the Clouds hut. At the base of the eastern part of the AMC Pinkham Notch Visitor Center.
The summit is covered with several buildings, including The Sherman Adams Visitor Center, television and radio antennas, the construction of the Yankees and Washington Mt Observatory.The highest recorded surface wind of the land was in the observatory atop Mt. Washington, 231 MPH, 12 April 1934. He is known for having the worst weather in the world, particularly bad winter. There are many monuments to hikers who have died on the mountain, including one to Lizzie Bourne, who died while trying to walk up, dressed in typical Victorian clothing. During the summer months there is a cafe, museum, payphone, gift shop, or a post office in the operation. In winter, there is no access to any building. The Center has all year by observers of the time.
There have been several hotels on the summit. The "trick" original-Top House is a stone building with a simple wooden extension. Later, a hotel built in the fancy wood, connected directly to the track. He was burned and a new hotel has been built in 1900. In recent years eliminated wooden extension of Tip-Top House. You can visit inside the house from top to Council during the summer months.
On the east side of the mountain are three main streams;
The Great Gulf, said the larger glacial cirques erros in the range of the Presidency with cliffs!
Tuckerman – which is famous for its skiing in late spring.
Huntington – A playground of rock and ice climbing.
On the west side, overlooking the ravine Ammoonosuc. Just south of
Lagos clouds, is Mt Monroe, and just north of the mountain of clay, with a little further, Mount Jefferson.
Hiking trails Mt Washington Valley
There are many options for hiking to the summit of Mount Washington. Routes Most Popular Pinkham Notch, on the east side of the mountain. Climbing the Middle East that you're immune to the usual strong winds north and west for most trekking. The main road is the road Tuckerman Ravine (4.1 miles) that goes straight from Pinkham to the summit.
On the south side of the ravine is the Boott Spur road (5.4 miles) and the north side has come Lion Head (4.5 miles). Both are slightly longer than Tuckerman Ravine, but also easier on the knees. The Ravine trail Huntington (5.1 miles) branches off the Tuckerman Ravine trail and climbs the bare slabs of Huntington Ravine. This is probably the most difficult
in the Mountains White and should not be tempted by bad weather or used for descent. From there, people usually take the Alpine Garden Trail to Tuckerman Junction and continue upwards from there.
On the west side of the mountain, near the starting station of the cog railway Marshfield, there are two ways:
The Ammonoosuc trail Barranco (3.9 miles) begins at a parking lot just below the Cog parking lot and climbs along the lakes of the Clouds Hut. Hikers stay in Crawford Road at the top.
The Jewel trail (4.6 miles) left on the other side of the Cog Railroad parking lot (park at the Ammonoosuc Trailhead Ravin) and goes to the mound where it joins the Gulfside route.

Pinkham Notch Visitors Center – Take Route 16 North North Conway, located about 10 miles north Jackson. Parking in the main prize does not require a WMNF parking pass, parking lots Surplus. There are bathrooms, coin showers, food, some fishing gear and phones. The accommodation is available with reservations.
Ammonoosuc Ravine – From Rt 302 in Bretton Woods, take the Base
Road 6 miles to the Trailhead parking area to the right just before the cog railway. A WMNF Parking Pass is required.
