The South Coast Track Tasmania is 85 kilometers long road from Melaleuca to Cockle Creek. Walking the South Coast track takes between 6 to 9 days to complete and a walk hard not to be undertaken by the unfit. Day 3: Go to Louisa River Deadmans Bay. This day is difficult as it must cross the Ironbound Range which means an increase of about 900 meters followed by a decline of about 900 meters. If the weather is good then there is no great views, however you can get strong winds and low cloud which can cause bad days and hard work. The descent is through the forest and there are areas with many tree roots exposed if precautions must be taken not to slip or an ankle sprain. The time required can vary from 6 to 10 hours depending on fitness and weather.

Day 4: Deadmans Bay Osmiridian Beach.This is 13 km which takes between 4.5 to 6 hours to complete with about 150meters up and down. Most walks on the beach, with beautiful views to be in the EU. At the end of prions Beach you have to cross the New River Lagoon by boat. Day 6: Granite beach south of Cape Creek is a 10-kilometer walk that has 5.5 to 7 hours and 600 meters. The last major climb of the course is on today. You must cross the mountains south of the Cape, which is wooded country and may be muddy. There are excellent views and beautiful forest view. The camping means you have to cross the stream south can be difficult after heavy rain or high tides.

Day 7: South Cape Creek Cockle Creek. The last day takes 3 to 4.5 hours, is 12 miles long and has 150 meters up and down. After spending the next two tracks, you have the option of walking or climbing inside the rocks head of the Lions. If the weather is bad, then the indoor can be better. The road continues on the road to Cockle Creek where you can take a bus to Hobart even if you plan ahead when the bus only runs three days a week from December to March.
